MSDS certification, also known as Material Safety Data Sheet certification, is a document that provides detailed information about potential hazards and safety precautions associated with a specific substance or product. Contains information on chemical composition, physical and chemical properties, handling and storage instructions, emergency procedures, and potential health effects. MSDS certification is often required by regulatory agencies to ensure the safe transportation, use and disposal of hazardous materials.

The data sheet may be submitted in a variety of formats, such as written or printed, and must comply with the usability, design and content requirements set out in WHMIS legislation. The legislation provides flexibility in design and wording, but requires that all hazardous ingredients that meet certain criteria be listed and exemptions be granted under the Hazardous Substances Information Review Act.
